After receiving your beautiful tropical flowers from Kaua`i Tropicals, unpack them immediately and immerse them in water (a bathtub works best) for about twenty minutes. While the flowers are soaking, cut 1/4" to1/2" off from the end of the stem at a forty-five degree angle. By doing so, you are ensuring your tropicals get maximum water absorption.
To promote a long vase life, keep your tropicals at room temperature (60-85F degrees). Change the water and recut the stems every two to three days. Again, cutting the stem enables water to rehydrate the flower and improve longevity. Do not place the flowers in direct sunlight, close to a heat source or in a cold drafty area. Mist flowers and foliage daily to prevent dehydration and to keep a fresh appearance.
Get creative with your arrangements! Your tropical flowers can be arranged into one or more bouquets. Place the foliage behind the flowers and place flowers of different heights in the vase to create your own display of aloha.
